Sazerac (Rye)
This variation of the Sazerac uses Rye instead of Cognac like in the original recipe.
Ingredients
- 6cl Rye. I like Rittenhouse
- 4 dashes of Peychaud’s Bitters
- half a teaspoon sugar
- a splash of absinth
Garnish
Lemon peel
Drinkware
Old Fashioned glass
Preparation
You’re going to need two Old Fashioned glasses. Put one in the freezer to chill. In the other one, mix the sugar with the bitters and half a teaspoon of water. Muddle until the sugar is fully dissolved. Add rye and ice, stir with a spoon to chill. Add a splash of absinth to the chilled glass and turn to coat the entire glass. Pour out any excess. Strain the rest of the ingredients into the chilled glass, rub the rim with a slice of lemon peel and drop it into the drink as garnish.
